Britney Spears has said she has no immediate plans to do an interview with Oprah Winfrey, despite the news that the two will collaborate on her comeback.

The pair have apparently been discussing the interview for several months, and will sit down on TV later this year for a discussion that will be aired live on OWN TV channel.

Spears’ last TV interview was with Matt Lauer on Today in 2011, which saw her remove a fake ice cream cone from her mouth to joke about her career.

She also starred in Justin Timberlake’s TV show Spin City in 1999.

Her biggest television interview was in 1999 with Oprah Winfrey , in which the pair spoke of the teenager’s coming of age in the public eye.

She was also asked about her breakdown in 2007, which saw her shaved head, shaved eyebrows and spent time in a psychiatric unit.

“I think that was very unfair to me and very shocking to everyone, and it affected me and made me feel like I couldn’t breathe.

“But that was my beginning and my end, and I feel like, to this day, I’m loving what I’m doing.”

News of the interview sparked support on social media, with one person tweeting: “Embrace the story and take the important lessons, or learn from Oprah how to spoon feed love, compassion, peace and empathy onto Britney.”

The new interview will see Winfrey promoting her show, Oprah’s Next Chapter, which began in October 2011.
